Washington reported 143 homicides last year, the fewest in nearly 50 years.
Could it be last year's U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Heller versus D.C. had a positive effect when it overturned the handgun ban in D.C.? Oh, say it ain't so, Joe.

Hugs for jobs
Apparently Danny Glover of Lethal Weapon fame has a new program that I call, Hugs for jobs.
Glover, who like much of the Hollywird crowd seems to be of a socialist/Marxist leaning managed to cost about 375 jobs.
Seems the German-owned suit maker, Hugo Boss said they weren't being competitive enough in the market and said they would have to lower the pay of their workers in their Brooklyn, Ohio plant.
Well, Glover and the union representing the workers felt a piece of the pie was worse than none of the pie and protested.
The company said they offered good-faith negotiaons but Glover and the union weren't satisfied so Boss said they're closing the plant down on March 23, 2010 and moving the plant work overseas.
Way to go, Danny; you just helped cost 375 people their job. Talk about a real lethal weapon!
You're a rich guy. Perhaps you can purchase the plant and we can protest you. I'm sure Mr. Glover's hugs were of great comfort to the newly unemployed. I know, maybe Glover can go to his pal Hugo Chavez and get all of the workers work in Venezuela for the pay they were going to get in the U.S. Yeah, that's the ticket.

I'm beginning to warm up to Obama's health care monstrosity
I was vehmently opposed to Obama's health care monstrosity, but I'm beginning to warm up to it.
Let me see if I have this correct:
The initial fine for not having his health care is $95.00 -- far less than the cost of insurance.
Then I can wait till I get sick and purchase the insurance, since they can't turn me down.
Sweet!

How did Obama's bill pass?
Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and their ilk are touting what a victory the vote for Obama's catastrophe he calls a health reform bill is.
Let's be clear; this vote came about from sleazy backroom deals and a complete disregard for the Constitution of the United States -- You know that document that they all took an oath, swearing to uphold and defend.
The new Marxists will have a little problem that could end their giddiness. It's called 10th Amendment -- state's Rights. Those powers not given to the government are the powers of the states and of the People. Make no mistake; Congress and Obama have no authority to take over health care, car companies, banks, student loans or any of the other things they've taken it upon themselves to hijack.

To defend the Constitution when it suits us
Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and the rest of the treasonous Democrats finally got their wish. They got the votes for their so-called Health Care Reform.
They have done every Chicago-style back-room deal needed in order to accomplish their goal. They have violated the Constitution of the United States up one side and down the other. They have lied to the American people unabated.
These treasonous criminals should be held accountable, not only at the ballot box but in the courtrooms, as well.
They all took an oath of office, swearing to uphold the Constituion of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Not just when it's convenient for them. It is imperative that we hold every one of them accountable at election time.

Democrat Al Hastings lets us know that the rules are, there are no rules; they make them up as they go along. Toltarianism is the word we're looking for.

The high price of socialism
According to a Fox News article California and other states are strapped for cash. The Fox News report didn't say it, but I will; it's the Socialist chickens coming home to roost.
California and every other liberal state that has embarked on a socialist agenda of one entitlement after another have found the money isn't there to fund all of their feel-good socialist programs.
Now they are embarking on a plan to tax you into oblivion, via inflated traffic fines. We aren't just talking red-light runners and speeders; we're talking about folks who make an illegal turn. Oh, and in case you think it will apply to everyone equally, think again. Mexico won't share it's info with the United States about who a particular license plate is registered to. So if you're here illegally -- not to worry; you have a get-out-of-jail-free card.
"Steve Finnegan, government affairs manager for the Automobile Club of Southern California, said the cameras are justified when they're intended to stop drivers from running red lights, but when they're used for citing less dangerous right-turn violations motorists can get cynical about their purpose."
So, how is all of that 'hope and change' working out for you?
Oh, and I wonder how this will work for people like Arnold's wife who get caught talking on the cell phone while driving? Of course Arnold is wealthy enough that it won't be a big deal for him.

America Truly is the Greatest Country in the World. Don 't Let Freedom Slip Away

What I am about to tell you is something you've probably never heard or will ever read in history books.
I believe that I am an eyewitness to history. I cannot tell you that Hitler took Austria by tanks and guns; it would distort history. We elected him by a landslide - 98% of the vote.. I've never read that in any American publications. Everyone thinks that Hitler just rolled in with his tanks and took Austria by force.
In 1938, Austria was in deep Depression. Nearly one-third of our workforce was unemployed. We had 25% inflation and 25% bank loan interest rates.
Farmers and business people were declaring bankruptcy daily. Young people were going from house to house begging for food. Not that they didn't want to work; there simply weren't any jobs. My mother was a Christian woman and believed in helping people in need. Every day we cooked a big kettle of soup and baked bread to feed those poor, hungry people - about 30 daily.
The Communist Party and the National Socialist Party were fighting each other. Blocks and blocks of cities like Vienna , Linz , and Graz were destroyed. The people became desperate and petitioned the government to let them decide what kind of government they wanted.
We looked to our neighbor on the north, Germany , where Hitler had been in power since 1933. We had been told that they didn't have unemployment or crime, and they had a high standard of living. Nothing was ever said about persecution of any group -- Jewish or otherwise. We were led to believe that everyone was happy. We wanted the same way of life in Austria . We were promised that a vote for Hitler would mean the end of unemployment and help for the family. Hitler also said that businesses would be assisted, and farmers would get their farms back. Ninety-eight percent of the population voted to annex Austria to Germany and have Hitler for our ruler.
We were overjoyed, and for three days we danced in the streets and had candlelight parades. The new government opened up big field kitchens and everyone was fed.
After the election, German officials were appointed, and like a miracle, we suddenly had law and order. Three or four weeks later, everyone was employed. The government made sure that a lot of work was created through the Public Work Service.
Hitler decided we should have equal rights for women. Before this, it was a custom that married Austrian women did not work outside the home. An able-bodied husband would be looked down on if he couldn't support his family. Many women in the teaching profession were elated that they could retain the jobs they previously had been required to give up for marriage.
Hitler Targets Education - Eliminates Religious Instruction for Children:
Our education was nationalized. I attended a very good public school. The population was predominantly Catholic, so we had religion in our schools. The day we elected Hitler (March 13, 1938), I walked into my schoolroom to find the crucifix replaced by Hitler's picture hanging next to a Nazi flag. Our teacher, a very devout woman, stood up and told the class we wouldn't pray or have religion anymore. Instead, we sang "Deutschland, Deutschland, Uber Alles," and had physical education.
Sunday became National Youth Day with compulsory attendance. Parents were not pleased about the sudden change in curriculum. They were told that if they did not send us, they would receive a stiff letter of warning the first time. The second time they would be fined the equivalent of $300, and the third time they would be subject to jail. The first two hours consisted of political indoctrination. The rest of the day we had sports. As time went along, we loved it. Oh, we had so much fun and got our sports equipment free. We would go home and gleefully tell our parents about the wonderful time we had.
My mother was very unhappy. When the next term started, she took me out of public school and put me in a convent. I told her she couldn't do that and she told me that someday when I grew up, I would be grateful. There was a very good curriculum, but hardly any fun - no sports, and no political indoctrination. I hated it at first but felt I could tolerate it. Every once in a while, on holidays, I went home. I would go back to my old friends and ask what was going on and what they were doing. Their loose lifestyle was very alarming to me. They lived without religion. By that time unwed mothers were glorified for having a baby for Hitler. It seemed strange to me that our society changed so suddenly. As time went along, I realized what a great deed my mother did so that I wasn't exposed to that kind of humanistic philosophy.
Equal Rights Hits Home:
In 1939, the war started and a food bank was established. All food was rationed and could only be purchased using food stamps. At the same time, a full-employment law was passed which meant if you didn't work, you didn't get a ration card, and if you didn't have a card, you starved to death. Women who stayed home to raise their families didn't have any marketable skills and often had to take jobs more suited for men.
Soon after this, the draft was implemented. It was compulsory for young people, male and female, to give one year to the labor corps. During the day, the girls worked on the farms, and at night they returned to their barracks for military training just like the boys. They were trained to be anti-aircraft gunners and participated in the signal corps. After the labor corps, they were not discharged but were used in the front lines. When I go back to Austria to visit my family and friends, most of these women are emotional cripples because they just were not equipped to handle the horrors of combat. Three months before I turned 18, I was severely injured in an air raid attack. I nearly had a leg amputated, so I was spared having to go into the labor corps and into military service.
Hitler Restructured the Family Through Daycare:
When the mothers had to go out into the work force, the government immediately established child care centers. You could take your children ages 4 weeks to school age and leave them there around-the-clock, 7 days a week, under the total care of the government. The state raised a whole generation of children.. There were no motherly women to take care of the children, just people highly trained in child psychology. By this time, no one talked about equal rights. We knew we had been had.
Health Care and Small Business Suffer Under Government Controls:
Before Hitler, we had very good medical care. Many American doctors trained at the University of Vienna . After Hitler, health care was socialized, free for everyone. Doctors were salaried by the government. The problem was, since it was free, the people were going to the doctors for everything. When the good doctor arrived at his office at 8 a.m., 40 people were already waiting and, at the same time, the hospitals were full. If you needed elective surgery, you had to wait a year or two for your turn. There was no money for research as it was poured into socialized medicine. Research at the medical schools literally stopped, so the best doctors left Austria and emigrated to other countries.
As for healthcare, our tax rates went up to 80% of our income. Newlyweds immediately received a $1,000 loan from the government to establish a household. We had big programs for families. All day care and education were free. High schools were taken over by the government and college tuition was subsidized. Everyone was entitled to free handouts, such as food stamps, clothing, and housing.
We had another agency designed to monitor business. My brother-in-law owned a restaurant that had square tables. Government officials told him he had to replace them with round tables because people might bump themselves on the corners. Then they said he had to have additional bathroom facilities. It was just a small dairy business with a snack bar. He couldn't meet all the demands. Soon, he went out of business. If the government owned the large businesses and not many small ones existed, it could be in control.
We had consumer protection. We were told how to shop and what to buy. Free enterprise was essentially abolished. We had a planning agency specially designed for farmers. The agents would go to the farms, count the live-stock, then tell the farmers what to produce, and how to produce it.
"Mercy Killing" Redefined:
In 1944, I was a student teacher in a small village in the Alps . The villagers were surrounded by mountain passes which, in the winter, were closed off with snow, causing people to be isolated. So people intermarried and offspring were sometimes retarded. When I arrived, I was told there were 15 mentally retarded adults, but they were all useful and did good manual work. I knew one, named Vincent, very well. He was a janitor of the school. One day I looked out the window and saw Vincent and others getting into a van. I asked my superior where they were going. She said to an institution where the State Health Department would teach them a trade, and to read and write. The families were required to sign papers with a little clause that they could not visit for 6 months. They were told visits would interfere with the program and might cause homesickness.
As time passed, letters started to dribble back saying these people died a natural, merciful death. The villagers were not fooled. We suspected what was happening. Those people left in excellent physical health and all died within 6 months. We called this euthanasia.
The Final Steps - Gun Laws:
Next came gun registration.. People were getting injured by guns. Hitler said that the real way to catch criminals (we still had a few) was by matching serial numbers on guns. Most citizens were law abiding and dutifully marched to the police station to register their firearms. Not long after-wards, the police said that it was best for everyone to turn in their guns. The authorities already knew who had them, so it was futile not to comply voluntarily.
No more freedom of speech. Anyone who said something against the government was taken away. We knew many people who were arrested, not only Jews, but also priests and ministers who spoke up.
Totalitarianism didn't come quickly, it took 5 years from 1938 until 1943, to realize full dictatorship in Austria . Had it happened overnight, my countrymen would have fought to the last breath. Instead, had we had creeping gradualism. Now, our only weapons were broom handles. The whole idea sounds almost unbelievable that the state, little by little eroded our freedom.
After World War II, Russian troops occupied Austria . Women were raped, preteen to elderly. The press never wrote about this either. When the Soviets left in 1955, they took everything that they could, dismantling whole factories in the process. They sawed down whole orchards of fruit, and what they couldn't destroy, they burned. We called it The Burned Earth. Most of the population barricaded themselves in their houses. Women hid in their cellars for 6 weeks as the troops mobilized. Those who couldn't, paid the price. There is a monument in Vienna today, dedicated to those women who were massacred by the Russians. This is an eye witness account.

You can fool some of the people some of the time, but...

Oh, my gosh! Does Obama ever take blame for his screw ups? Yes, it was a rhetorical question. The answer is no. He continues to blame his mess on George Bush leaving him with the situation.
He was just interviewed on Fox News and dodged every single question presented to him. Instead, he insisted on filibustering with continuous rambling of false talking points, smirking and telling Bret Bare not to interrupt him.
Apparently, he expected the same softball questions that he gets from the lame-stream media. He never answered anything except in inability or unwillingness to answer anything.
Let me try to sum this up for you. I know that you think that you believe what you think I just believe what you think I said, but I'm not certain that what I believe what you think I believe what you think I believe I said is really what I believe I think you believe I said. Let me be clear about that.

Tell me again why we should have a statue of Pancho Villa in town square.
OK, I'm just a simple man; perhaps someone can explain to me why we have a 5-ton bronze statue of rapist and murderer Pancho Villa in front of the government buildings in the middle of downtown Tucson.
I realize Mexico gave it to us as a gift (read: stick in the eye), but that doesn't mean we shouldn't melt it down, sell the bronze and send a statue of son-of-Sam or someone of equal value to Mexico as a gift.
Of course we have pot heads like Willie Nelson who like to sing songs about "Pancho" and romanticize about him in history revisionism but that's just pot-head induced fantasy.
My fantasy would be to hook a chain to it and drag it down Broadway Blvd, sparks flying and perhaps move the statue of Father Kino in its place. But that's just me.
Naturally, there will be those who will claim he helped the poor. Of course they are the same folks who will tell you that Barack is helping the poor. Really? Tell me who either of them has taken out of poverty; aside from themselves.
Pancho Villa came from humble beginnings and went on to do quite well for himself; up to the point that he was killed in a hail of bullets. Barack came from humble beginnings and since coming to Washington has become a multi-millionaire, while railing against the rich. He is the rich, by most folks standards! Has Pancho or Barack delivered anyone but themselves from poverty? I think not. As a matter of fact, Obama has managed to deliver millions of people into poverty. Hell, I guess we'll have a statute of him, next.

"Stimulus money" fat with waist
$16M in federal grant money has just been given to Pima County (Tucson, AZ) to battle obesity, according to a Arizona Daily Star article.
When is someone going to stop this insanity!
Rep. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz, a man who was once on the Pima County Board of Supervisors and voted to waste taxpayer money on a so-called gun 'buy-back'says the grant is 'expected' (the key code word is, expected) to create 155 jobs over the next two years; at least that's what he's claiming.
Pleeeeeeeeeease! I could spread this bravo sierra on my yard and have the greenest lawn in town.
If the Republicans tried this crap (pardon the pun), they would be crucified by the Dems and the media. You can watch these people in interviews and they will look right at the camera and spray (to use the term of the media when referring to semi-auto firearms) the most absurd nonsense one could ever imagine. There is no way that anyone with an IQ in at least the double digits can even pretend to take their claims seriously.

The audacity of not seeing it Obama's way
In Obama's recent State of the Union (aka: State of disarray)address, Obama took the opportunity to chastise the United States Supreme Court justices for not playing by his rules. After all, it is his ball and they need to play by his rules; or do they?
Justice Roberts doesn't see it that way. At least one other Justice said he wouldn't attend such a political pep rally.

Is Sean Penn sagaciously challenged or just your garden-variety moron?
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Moron may refer to:
• Moron (psychology), disused term for a person with a mental age between 7 and 12, and a common offensive slang expression for a person considered stupid
An idiot, dolt, or dullard is a mentally deficient person, or someone who acts in a self-defeating or significantly counterproductive way. More humorous synonyms of the term include addlehead, blockhead, bonehead, deadhead, dimwit, dodo, dope, dummy, dunderhead, nincompoop, ninny, nitwit, numbskull, stupidhead, thickhead, and twit, among many others."
Sean Penn, darling of the left loons recently opined that anyone who calls his pal, Hugo Chavez, a dictator, should be jailed.
My question to you, the reader is: Is Sean Penn sagaciously-challenged or just a garden-variety moron -- as defined by Wikipedia? Please take our poll.

Sean Penn would have anyone who calls Venezuelan dictator a dictator jailed. Does anyone care?

Is there no end to Sean Penn's quest for proving his stupidity? It's a rhetorical question.

A Fox News story reports the following:
DALLAS — Police say a gunman stormed an office tower in North Dallas, shooting a father and a son, MyFoxDFW.com reports.
Authorities say the gunman shot a 63-year-old man in the legs and his 39-year-old son in the neck at a business they own on the third floor.
Dallas Police Lt. Andrew Harvey said the gunman pointed his gun at arriving police, who fired at him and missed. The suspect then shot himself, police said.

At least he didn't blame it on Bush.

"Rove, now a Fox News contributor, said he confronted Obama, then the
junior senator from Illinois, about the quotation during a chance
encounter in the White House cafeteria. According to Rove, Obama
initially denied attributing the quote to Rove, who then showed Obama
the page in question.
"He looked surprised and began insisting he really wasn't saying what he
had quoted me as saying," Rove wrote in "Courage," which will be
released Tuesday. "After a few moments, the conversation drew to an
awkward and unsatisfactory conclusion; he was unwilling to acknowledge
the mistake or apologize. It seemed to me he didn't much care that he
had attributed to me something I had never said and found offensive."
Really? I'm mortified.

Still want to trust your life to 911?
A Pennsylvania man died February 6th after 911 was called 10 times, according to an Associated Press story.
The story claims 30 hours had passed and the victim between the time the victim's girlfriend began calling for help and the time 50-year-old Curtis Mitchell finally died waiting for them.
The story report the frantic calls weren't passed on from one shift to the other, so each call was reported as a new incident.
The paramedics were within a quarter of a mile of the victim on two occassions but said they would have to walk in to get him because the snow was too deep. The paramedics chose not to in both occassions.
This particular incident involved a dying man and paramedics. Imagine for a moment that your wife is alone in the home with your children and someone is trying to break in to rape your wife and kill her and your children. When seconds count the police will only be minutes (or perhaps 30 hours) away.
The ambulance drivers say snow prevented them from getting to Curtis Mitchell. Would it be any different if the police were trying to get to your home? The reason they couldn't get there in time would be of no consequence to the outcome nor of any comfort to you when you arrived to find your wife and beloved children dead.
Now, let's suppose your wife had a firearm to defend herself and your children with. The bad guy breaks down your door and your wife gets a firearm. At that point two options are available to the would-be rapist/murderer. Either he runs away and all is good in Gotham City. Option two is he isn't deterred by the firearm, balieving that she really won't shoot him, she does shoot him dead and the police eventually arrive to call his next of kin.
I like those odds better than leaving my life in the hands of 911. But that's just me.
