Tell me again why we should have a statue of Pancho Villa in town square.

OK, I'm just a simple man; perhaps someone can explain to me why we have a 5-ton bronze statue of rapist and murderer Pancho Villa in front of the government buildings in the middle of downtown Tucson.

I realize Mexico gave it to us as a gift (read: stick in the eye), but that doesn't mean we shouldn't melt it down, sell the bronze and send a statue of son-of-Sam or someone of equal value to Mexico as a gift.

Of course we have pot heads like Willie Nelson who like to sing songs about "Pancho" and romanticize about him in history revisionism but that's just pot-head induced fantasy.

My fantasy would be to hook a chain to it and drag it down Broadway Blvd, sparks flying and perhaps move the statue of Father Kino in its place. But that's just me.

Naturally, there will be those who will claim he helped the poor. Of course they are the same folks who will tell you that Barack is helping the poor. Really? Tell me who either of them has taken out of poverty; aside from themselves.

Pancho Villa came from humble beginnings and went on to do quite well for himself; up to the point that he was killed in a hail of bullets. Barack came from humble beginnings and since coming to Washington has become a multi-millionaire, while railing against the rich. He is the rich, by most folks standards! Has Pancho or Barack delivered anyone but themselves from poverty? I think not. As a matter of fact, Obama has managed to deliver millions of people into poverty. Hell, I guess we'll have a statute of him, next.

Father Kino is an excellent choice. Anyone wise enough not to complete the towers on San Xavier mission to avoid Spanish taxes in a poor parish, sure beats a killer stupid enough to send his lieutenants to square off against George Patton.
